Emirates Post announces winners of annual UPU Letter Writing Competition
Dubai, May 20, 2009: Emirates Post has announced the winners of the 38 th International Letter-Writing Competition for Young People on the topic “How decent working conditions can lead to a better life”. Entries of 13 students from UAE schools have been shortlisted for recognition. The competition attracted over 800 entries.
The letter written by Maha Al Nuaimi, a student of Al Ma’ali School, Al Ain, was selected for the top prize and this will be the UAE entry for the international level competition conducted by Universal Postal Union (UPU) each year as part of World Post Day celebrations.
The other winners from Arabic schools are Shamsa Al Shaghal (Oden School, Ras Al Khaimah), Nada Ali (Al Dhafra School, Al Ain), Mohammed Khalid (Al Rowai, Abu Dhabi), Amal Mohammed (Moroom School, Ras Al Khaimah(, Asra Al Hamli (Al Khamael School, Abu Dhabi), Aknan Osama (Khadija School, Ajman), Yaman Sameer (Abu Ayub Al Ansari School, Sharjah), Fatma Al Shahumi (Dubai International School) and Maitha Al Nuaimi (Al Ma’ali School, Al Ain).
From the English schools, the winners are Maroosh Ebad (Al Nahda Girls’ School, Abu Dhabi), Mariam Jamshid (Dubai National School, Al Barsha) and Sarah Mohammed Abdullah (Al Nahda National School, Abu Dhabi).
The winners, along with their supervisors and teachers from respective schools, will be felicitated by Emirates Post at a function to be held on World Post Day on October 9. The winners will receive cash prizes, along with certificates.
