Emirates Post issues stamps on UAE Pavilion at Expo 2010 Shanghai
Dubai, May 12, 2010: Emirates Post has issued two commemorative stamps to mark the opening of the UAE Pavilion at Expo 2010 Shanghai. Issued in denominations of AED 1 and AED 5.50, the stamps are available at all UAE post offices.
The stamps feature the UAE Pavilion, portraying the mesmerizing sand-dunes of the famous ‘Empty Quarter’. The iconic stand has been designed using modern technologies and aesthetic elements.
With over 70 million people set to attend Expo 2010 Shanghai and over 3 million expected to visit the UAE Pavilion, this is a truly global exhibition that will showcase the UAE to the world.

In just a few decades, the urban landscape of the UAE has been transformed with modern cities and well-planned infrastructure,” said Abdullah Al Ashram, CEO, Emirates Post. “We are honoured to commemorate UAE’s participation in this prestigious international show through a set of these special stamps.”
The exhibits within the pavilion relate the story of how the UAE, drawing on its cultural strengths, has used its oil wealth to create a diversified economy and to build better cities that support a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle, with due attention to the conservation of natural environment and wildlife and forward-looking moves like building carbon-neutral cities.
Expo 2010 Shanghai is open from 1 May to 31 October. A virtual pavilion has been created on www.expo.cn and a comprehensive website is available at www.uaepavilion.com . The UAE Pavilion at Expo 2010 Shanghai is supported by the Government of the UAE under its President, HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the UAE Cabinet, under its Prime Minister, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The coordinating body is the UAE National Media Council.
