Emirates Post’s Data Centre awarded ISO 27001 for information security, ISO 9001 for quality management
First postal organisation in the region to earn the dual certification
Dubai, February 10, 2010: Emirates Post’s Data Centre has been awarded the prestigious information security certification ISO 27001 and the quality management certification ISO 9001, following a stringent audit by international certification bodies. It is the first postal organization in the Middle East to achieve the dual milestone.
The ISO certificates were presented to Mr. Ibrahim Bin Karam, CEO of Emirates Post, by Dr. S. A. Mansoor, Director, SGS Middle East, the global leader and innovator in inspection, verification, testing and certification services.
Also present at the ceremony were Ahmad Al Badi, acting Assistant CEO, IT Affairs, Emirates Post and Dr. Muhammad Manshad Satti, CEO, IT Butler e-Services Middle East, consultants for information security and compliance.
“We have always been aware that the data centre, network infrastructure and other associated services play a vital role in running postal services,” said Ibrahim Bin Karam. “We therefore decided to adopt global best practices and implement ISO controls in our main data centre and network to mitigate the risk of intrusions and disruptions.”
Bin Karam congratulated the Emirates Post IT team on its success in achieving global standards in information security and quality management, thus ensuring that Emirates Post offers smooth and professional services to its customers.

Mansoor. “We are delighted to say that Emirates Post is the first postal organization in the Middle East to achieve the dual milestone of ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 for its postal services.”
ISO 27001 has been acclaimed universally as a vital tool to manage and minimize the range of threats to which information is regularly subjected.
